One of the initiatives promoted and successfully realized by the “Courtyard of the Gentiles” in the last few years is the “Courtyard of Children”.
In the universe of children, who live in the poorest cities and suburbs, you can find and rediscover the feelings of innocence and curiosity.
As the person in charge of the “Courtyard of Children”, Patrizia Martinez, likes to say: “the way of seeing reality with a pure look and feeling events and happenings, embraces the pedagogy of the hearing, the respect and the discover of children talent. It allows creating new community networks and new paths of hope”.
The “Courtyard” teaches children that beyond their poverty and their (not always exemplary) models of life, there is a different world where beauty, solidarity and friendship are fundamental values of life. Moreover, the “Courtyard of Children” is an “open library” that brings near childhood to men’s noblest creations and provides answers to their questions.
Here are the meaning of the initiatives organized in several cities by the “Courtyard of the Gentiles” since 2012, in collaboration with schools and public and private institutions.
The “Train of Children”
In parallel, the “Courtyard of the Gentiles”, thanks to the generosity of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, from 2013 developed the initiative of the “Train the Children”: a train Frecciargento allows disadvantaged children to travel to the Vatican, where they are greeted by Pope Francis.
